canada line

there has been many debates whether or not millions and millions of dollars should be spent on the olympics and the new canada line.

the street is FILLED with more and more homeless people every year, and crime has definitely increased.

i did some research on the annual costs the city budgets for the basic needs of its citizens.

is 2 billion dollars really neccissary to spend on the mere TEN days this city will boost its ego during the olympics? or should more money go into what we REALLY need? housing for the homeless, security, community services? etc etc….

  1. I thought it was a pretty interesting concept… could do more in depth and show more personal views on it.

  2. come to think of it though, is this really a personal issue? is the city building it for their own benefit and ego for hosting 2010? or do they ACTUALLY care about everyone’s opinion? i mean …i dont recall being asked to vote on the construction… who voted? the people in the upscale neighbourhoods? i mean, my point is that there is already a train track running from richmond.. no one uses it… those people who voted didnt want the old train track to be used because it would run through their neighborhood and that would lower their property value…. so THOSE people voted, but really, who takes transit? not THEM… so who pays for all of this? the people who have less money and less of a say.
